There is something special about Sunday mornings.
Before the busyness of the week begins, I like to slowdown, quiet my heart, my mind, and spend time with God. Sunday is my opportunity to reset spiritually, physically and mentally. I start my day with sermons from some of my favorite preachers to get aligned with God’s will for my life. The bible says you grow spiritually stronger when you listen to the word of God. And I’m here to tell you that is true. Spiritually weak doesn’t even begin to describe the state I was in before I found Jesus or, He found me.
My prayers are not complicated. They are honest. They come from my heart. Here is what I pray about on Sunday.
I Pray for Peace in My Heart
Before I pray for anything else I ask go to quiet my mind and my soul so that I can I listen if He decides to speak to me. I ask Him to settle m thoughts, calm my worries, and remind me that I am not walking into this week alone.
I Pray for My Family
My family is always on my heart.
I pray for protection over their lives, for wisdom in their decisions, and for love to stay the center of everything we do. And, I’m not going to lie sometimes, this can be difficult to do depending on the week we have had. But I think that’s where God teaches his most valuable lesson. When we do things we don’t want to do.
I Pay for Strength for the Week Ahead
I don’t know always know what the week ahead will bring, but God does.
So, I pray for strength for whatever comes-apointments, responsibilities, unexpected changes, and those challenge’s no one else sees. I make it a point to thank Him even before my feet hit the ground. “Thank you Jesus for waking me up today” are the first words out of my mouth in the morning and “help me to remember that everything I have is because of you.
I Pray For Others Who Are Struggling
Evidence of the enemy’s work is all around us. It’s no secret that this world needs prayer just look at the headlines. Every time I see a story about a mother losing a child, I tear up and ask the Holy Spirit to comfort her. So, I pray for the mothers that lost a child, those who feel alone, and the one is silently trying to hold everything together.
I Pray to Be a Blessing
One of my favorite Sunday prayers is simple:
”Lord use me this week”
My exact words were “Lord help me to be blessing to. Someone” and about one hour later I get a message from a former coworker, a single mom with 2 daughters that she needs help with a light bill! I was grateful he used me to help her! You don’t need something big to make a difference, Sometimes its just a kind word, a listening ear, or, a moment of encouragement.
We should all want our lives to reflect God’s love in small meaningful ways.
”Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
What are you praying for this Sunday? I would love to hear from you in the comments.
